Here’s a quick overview of how the State Badminton Tournament will work and what you should be aware of:
Team Tournament (May 11–13)
- Teams seeded 9–16 play on Monday (May 11)
- Winners advance to Tuesday (May 12)
- Top 8 seeds start on Tuesday
- Teams that win twice on Tuesday advance to Final Four on Wednesday (May 13) at Edina
Match times, locations, and opponents will be announced on May 6
Individual Tournament (May 14 at Edina)
Each team sends:
- Top 2 singles players
- Top 2 doubles teams
There is a chance some teams may send additional players depending on seeding
Singles and doubles state championships are on Thursday, May 14
This will be a long day if you advance far
Important for Players
- Bring your own food (no player meals provided)
- Expect a long, intense day:
- Up to 6 matches to win a championship
- At least 12 sets played
- Matches will move quickly → be ready at all times
- Do NOT leave the court area between sets (or it may count as withdrawing)
Match Format
2-minute break between sets
1-minute break when a player reaches 11 points
